Supervision Practice
Supervision is often misunderstood as “the big brother approach or the boss is watching” rather than a developmental space to reflect, learn and develop. Using creative methodologies in the supervision process helps the supervisor and supervisee to achieve more outcomes.
Supervision in youth work is a structured process that supports youth workers in reflecting on their practice, improving performance, and maintaining professional and emotional wellbeing. It plays a critical role in ensuring ethical, safe, and effective youth work practice.
From partiipating in this 1 day training, the badge earner will achieve the following outcomes;
- Develop an understanding of Supervision approaches including coaching in supervision
- Learn how to implement a more developmental/competence-based approach in supervision
- Become more comfortable using creative methodologies in Supervision
- Learn how to implement a peer approach to supervision in your organisation through peer-practice
- Be confident using creative methodologies in supervision with individuals or teams
- Exploration of Youth Service Supervision Models and methodologies
- New & innovative ways to get the best of out of Supervision in a Youth Work Context
This training is endorsed by Youth Work Ireland as part of the support and practice goals for Member Youth Services.
