This programme is about recognising the time, energy, and creativity young people bring to music-making and youth spaces across the country. Whether you’re performing, producing, organising, leading, or supporting others, your participation matters — and it deserves to be recognised.
Learning here doesn’t happen through tests or uploads. It happens through experience: by trying things out, working with others, taking responsibility, and reflecting on what you’ve learned along the way. The programme workbook is a space for you to capture those experiences in your own words and on your own terms.
There are lots of ways to be involved in IYMAs hubs, and all of them count. Creative, technical, and leadership roles are all recognised, because each one plays an important part in making the programme work and building strong, inclusive youth music spaces.
The recognition you receive is designed to be useful beyond this programme. It helps you name the skills you’ve developed, the roles you’ve taken on, and what you’ve learned — so you can talk about them confidently in education, work, or other opportunities.
This system is designed to be fair, accessible, and supportive, and to work across different hubs and settings. It reflects how young people really learn and take part, and it’s built around participation, respect, and your voice.

Each City or Region of Learning platform looks similar but the content is different for sure.
You can find a map on top of the platform – where can you find activties in your region already?
Activities that are connected through a certain topic can be gathered in Learning Playlists. You might know playlists from Youtube or Spotify to organise your music or intersts. It’s the same principle here but in the shape of learning pathways.
So what is an OpenBadge?
An Open Badge is a digitally verified credential consisting of image and meta-data encoded:
Now it's time to earn your first badge. For this, you need to register - but no worries, that's very easy and you just need your email address! Follow the instructions below and fulfill the required task to get your badge. (The only data held is your Name and Email address)
To keep a copy of all your badges on your phone - download the Badgewallet from the App store - you will be able to complete badges on a laptop or by your phone.
